Nobody rings a tree surgeon because everything's fine.
They ring because something came down in the storm. Because the oak has been dropping branches on the drive and it's been on the list for two years. Because the tree is too close to the house and it's time to actually sort it.
Brad's team handles the practical side. Removal, pruning, reductions, stump grinding, hedge work, storm call-outs, right across Sussex and Surrey. You get a clear answer before the job starts and a tidy site when it's done.
Capel has been based near Horsham since 1982. NPTC qualified, CHAS accredited, £10m public liability. Brad answers the phone himself, which tells you most of what you need to know.

What tree surgery costsYou don't need to know the right word for it.
Most people ring with a situation, not a specification. "It's getting too close to the house." "A big branch came down and there's another that looks dodgy." "The neighbour has mentioned the hedge again."
That's fine. Describe the problem and Brad will tell you what it actually is. Sometimes a careful reduction sorts it. Sometimes the tree has to come down. Sometimes the stump from the last lot is the thing in the way.
What you won't get is a push toward the most expensive option. If a job can wait, he'll say so.

Based in Horsham. Working Sussex and Surrey.
Capel Tree Surgeons has worked out of Runnymeade Farm, near Horsham, since 1982. For the full picture of what that means for a tree job in Horsham itself, see Tree Surgeon in Horsham.
From that base, Capel reaches roughly an hour in any direction: Crawley, Dorking, Reigate, Billingshurst, Guildford, and the wider towns across Sussex and Surrey listed below.
Horsham
Home ground. The Wealden clay gardens, the forest edge, and the tight streets off the Carfax. This is where Capel started and still works from.
Crawley
Smaller gardens, tighter access, and the odd big takedown near Worth Forest. The job here usually starts with how the kit gets in.
Dorking & Reigate
The Surrey side. Sloped Surrey Hills gardens toward Box Hill, period houses, and a lot of protected trees that need checking before a saw goes near them.
Billingshurst & Guildford
Low Weald farmland one way, the Wey Valley the other. Big hedgerow oaks, rural access, and gardens that have been left to it for years.

What people said after the job.
"Brad is brilliant. Very reasonably priced but also very quick, tidy and professional. Have used for several jobs year on year including fencing, trees and hedges. Would definitely recommend."
"Called Capel out for a crown reduction on a big tree overhanging the garden in Dorking. Turned up when they said they would, did the job properly, left everything tidy."

“Capel Tree Surgeons came round today and completely reshaped our spruce, pollarded two field maples and an apple tree. They also trimmed our hedges around the garden. Brad and Ben are really professional and did an excellent job leaving the garden neat and tidy. We would highly recommend them!”

Forty years of tree work in Sussex and Surrey.

Joined as a young lad. Ended up owning it.
Capel has traded under that name since 1982, starting out in the village it was named after. Brad joined as a young lad, learned the work from the ground up, and bought the business from the original owner. Still turns up to the jobs himself. The site gets left tidy because that is just how he works, not because anyone is checking.
Need a tree survey in Capel village itself? A tree survey records the condition, species, and risk of every tree on a site, usually before building work, a mortgage application, or a TPO decision. See Tree Surveys for what's included, or Tree Surgeon in Capel for coverage of the village itself.
Things people usually ask before they ring.
Do I need permission to remove a tree?
Sometimes. Trees in Conservation Areas and trees with Tree Preservation Orders need council consent before work starts. Brad will tell you at the quote stage whether yours needs checking, and can advise on the application if it does.
Are you insured?
£10m public liability, NPTC qualified, CHAS accredited. The paperwork exists and you can ask to see it. Most people don't, but the option is there.
How much does tree surgery cost?
Depends on the tree. Size, access, what needs doing, and how the wood and brash need to be disposed of all affect the price. The quote is free, written, and comes with a straight explanation of what it covers.
Can you remove tree stumps?
Yes. Stump grinding after removal or on standalone stumps. Grinds below ground level and the debris can be used as mulch or removed from site.
Do you do emergency call-outs?
Yes. Storm damage, trees blocking access, anything that can't wait. Ring the number. It goes to Brad directly, not an answering service.
How quickly can you come out?
For emergencies, same day where possible. For planned work, usually a few weeks depending on the schedule. You'll get a clear answer when you ring.
Got a tree problem?
Ring the number or send the form. It rings Brad, not a call centre and not a franchise office in another county. Describe the tree and you'll get a straight answer about what happens next.
Free written quotation. No obligation. Usually back to you the same day.
